    Living in the interior of a place such as Borneo definitely has some unique challenges. For one, travel and heat exhaustion. The island is on the equator and maintains a steady 30 degree celcius climate throughout most of the year. Only in the higher altitudes does it cool off any. As well, this area averages more than 2.5 meters of rain a year! This heat and moisture combination can be murder to those who are not used to it. It's also the perfect breeding ground for bacteria and flies which can transfer deadly viruses to those who are not properly immunized against the affects. Not to mention the snakes, lizards, spiders, and other denizens of the jungle which prowl on the floor of the rainforest.
    When travelling, one should not go barefoot. This will help prevent water-borne ailments from affecting the character not to mention will be more comfortable with some sort of footwear. Not too much clothing should be worn unless combat is expected, due to the high amount of moisture in the air. This can cause clothing to become heavy with water-log and also cause contents to spoil or become damaged.
